Gift of a Lifetime: Students and teachers can experience the dramatic stories of transplant patients and donors as they are told in the Transplant Journey and Faces of Donation.Download suggested activities and worksheets and explore the Interactive Body to learn about the organs and tissues that can be transplanted. Students can also send questions that will be answered by experts in the field of organ and tissue transplantation, or you can arrange for a local expert to come into your classroom. Ray of Hope - The inspirational story of a young man, whose decision to be an organ donor left a legacy of life to others. Jason Ray was a son, a friend, a world traveler and the University of North Carolina mascot.
SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
$2,000 worth of scholarships are awarded to four New Mexico high school seniors every year in the
Betty Montoya "Gift of Life" Organ and Tissue Donation Essay Contest.
All High School Seniors (and home-schoolers) who will be attending a college, university or technical school can enter the essay contest.
There are two categories:
Personal Essay: $1,000
Fact-Based Essay: $1,000

Speakers For Secondary Education/Civic Community Programs Available
Donate Life Ambassadors are New Mexico Donor Services volunteer who are organ and tissue transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, health care professionals, and those waiting for transplants.
The Donate Life Ambassadors are available to speak to your school or civic/community groups about organ and tissue donation, and specifically the positive impact transplantation has had on their lives.
These trained volunteers have all been personally touched by organ and tissue donation. The recipients have been given renewed life. Meanwhile, donor family members find donation helps turn their tragedies and sorrows into feelings of triumph and joy.
