Kyle, Heart Recipient

Kyle was a perfect baby in every way, except one - he was dying. He was born with a heart defect. We could wait for Kyle to die, have several surgeries that were not very successful, or wait for a heart transplant. Doctors said it could take days, weeks or months for someone to donate a heart that was the right blood type and size for Kyle.

It's devastating to realize your child's life depends on the tragedy of another. Kyle was one of the miracle transplant babies. He received his heart transplant 9 days after being born. During Kyle's recovery, 9 babies died waiting for a heart transplant.

Our son is now thriving and enjoying life. Kyle keeps a smile on his face, making us grateful to the family who shared his Gift of Life.
