Donate Life VolunteersVOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Help promote organ and tissue donation in your community by giving a little of your time and energy.

Donate Life Ambassadors include donor family members, transplant recipients and transplant candidates, high school and college students, civic organization members, and other interested individuals.

Donate Life Ambassadors give presentations, help at health fairs, explain organ and tissue donation to the public, and ultimately increase the number of people who make the decision to be donors.

If you are interested in volunteering as a Donate Life Ambassador with New Mexico Donor Services, please fill out the online application form.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

  • Working at health fairs and other community events.
  • Speaking about donation to schools, civic clubs, and businesses.
  • Telling the media about your donation or transplant experience.
  • Providing valuable help in the NMDS offices.

INSPIRE OTHERS TO DONATE LIFE:

  • Staff a display booth at a health fair or event in your community.
  • Write an editorial for your local newspaper, or contact media about a donation/transplant story.
  • Place donation messages in publications produced by your community, religious, civic or service organizations. If you have an individual connection to donation, personalize your message
  • Get the Donate Life license plate for you car.
  • Put up organ donation posters in prominent places in your community.
  • Encourage your employer, church, or civic organization to promote donation.
  • Deliver organ donation brochures and posters to clinics and doctor's offices.
  • Tell all your family and friends about donation - e-mail postcard.
  • Include a donation message on your holiday cards and e-mails.
  • Talk to your child's teacher about the free organ donation classroom curriculum
  • Wear a donation awareness item everyday, such as t-shirt, pin or bracelet.
  • Join your community's parade with an organ donation decorated car, motorcycle or horse.
  • Plan a donation awareness activity in your community.
  • Submit information about donation to community or civic group newsletter.
  • Visit your local MVD office and thank the staff for asking individuals to sign up to be donors.
  • Join the Organ Transplant Awareness Program (OTAP) at www.otapnm.org a group of transplant recipients, transplant candidates and donor families who promote organ donation in New Mexico.
